We spend so much of our lives hoping, wanting and waiting for some new and improved version of our job, ministry, car and family. “If he would only _____, then I’d be happy.” “When I get married then….”, “when I have more money, I will______”
Most of us are not satisfied or content where we are. And yet, the Scripture call us to be joyful and content in all circumstances. Since I usually find myself in the dis-content realm, it was to my surprise this morn to be thankful for my life the way it is. Because if I had any other life, I would not be able to be there for my friends and family the way I am free to be now. I have the ability to pick up and go when needed and it has been my honor to do so. So today, I’m relishing (not mourning) my singleness and I count my blessings for where I am in my life right now. No need to wish for a better tomorrow…rather, be grateful moment by moment, day by day.
Remeber…the butterfly is a caterpillar long before its transformation. And although we often long for wings, we could miss the joy of being on the ground floor.
What can you find to be thankful for in your current situation? What are the benefits of your life just the way it is now? Count your many blessings. Name them one by one and I am sure that you, like me, will close your eyes with a fulfilled grin at the end of the day.
“But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment” (1 Timothy 6:6)
Blessnig you with contentment,
